Garden in July: hops

July 7, 2011 by Louise Livingstone

This series of photos looks at how vegetables and herbs are growing in a garden in early July. Peas are ripe and so are the broad beans. Green beans are putting on leaf have not come into flower yet. The warm weather has brought out flowers on eggplant and tomatoes. Lettuce greens are at their peak, and cabbages and kohlrabi are developing fast. Kale is nearly ready and and are Swiss chard and beet greens. The hops are rapidly reaching the tops of the poles and beginning to form flowers. Basil and thyme are growing well.
