The Baileys have farmed in Rawdon Township for many generations. Ross and Heather are the fourth generation at Fairview Farms and their sons Matthew and Christopher are the fifth.
Owen and Jackie Harder live in an energy efficient home, which is off the grid. They live and teach sustainable living, working with heavy horses on 50 acres.
Russett Farms started when Donna and Gerald bought the dairy farm at Wellmans Corners in 1959. Through the years Russett Farms have diversified and it now covers 800 acres.
Jeff and Jen Ferguson and their two small sons, Owen and Eric live at Springbrook Farm on Squire Road south of Springbrook in Stirling-Rawdon. The farm was owned by Jeff's grandparents Ron and Ethel Rahm for 30 years. They have a small herd of pigs and sell pork cuts, bacon and lean sausages some of which are gluten-free at the local farmers' markets. They also sell beef, free range chicken, and hay.
Richard and Beth Wismer live at Beckett Farms high up in Stirling-Rawdon. One gets a wonderful view west to the Northumberland hills. They used to run a dairy farm. Richard graduated from Loyalist College in 2008 as a land surveyor and is working in the area. He still farms raising mixed breed, beef cattle, which he sells as stockers (young cattle). He also grows cash crops and hay. Their farm is known as the Beckett Farm as Fred Beckett lived there until the 1970s.
Our garden has changed over the past 17 years from a cow pasture to a pig field to a small domestic garden to a large vegetable garden of about half an acre.
