The Ketcheson family have been farming in Hastings County for over 200 years and at Moira since 1829.
Ron and Janet Hamilton have farmed on Hamilton Road, Sidney Ward, City of Quinte West, since 1966. Janet (nee Reynolds) grew up in Cooper.
Dave Maines and Susan Carleton-Maines and their two sons Dustin, 11 years, and Graham, eight years, live on the Carleton family farm on the Moneymore Road, Roslin.
Jeff and Jen Ferguson and their two small sons, Owen and Eric live at Springbrook Farm on Squire Road south of Springbrook in Stirling-Rawdon. The farm was owned by Jeff’s grandparents Ron and Ethel Rahm for 30 years. Jeff works as a driver with Campbellford Farm Supply.
They have a small herd of pigs and sell pork cuts and lean sausages at the local farmers’ markets. They also sell beef, free range chicken, and hay.
Richard and Beth Wismer live at Beckett Farms high up in Stirling-Rawdon. One gets a wonderful view from their Beckett Berries strawberry field west to the Northumberland hills.
CIPM farm is a certified organic cash crop operation, growing about 350 acres of cereals and other grains each year.
The Durkin family has been farming in Tyendinaga Township since the area was settled nearly 200 years ago. For the past 40 years they have run the farm as a beef farm.
Dale, Fay and Mark Grant of Gran-Jou Farms breed Black Angus beef cattle. “They are bred, born and raised on our farm, from free-range contented cows,” said Dale.
Dave Harry is a long-time organic farmer who understands the need to care for the soil and the importance of following good crop rotations.
