The Cooney family, Mav and Linda, Rodney and Lisa run The Apple Store, on their farm five miles north of Stirling. The Apple Store is a charming place with that old-fashioned, general store feel, brimming with a harvest of apples and a harvest of country theme gifts.
“Our family invites you to join us us the store changes with the seasons,” sayd Lisa Cooney. “From summer BBQs, to fall feasts, to Christmas shopping, and drives in the country.”
The Apple Store would not be The Apple Store without apples. In season they sell Jersey Mac, Paula Red, McIntosh, Royal Gala, Cortland, Spartan, Empire, Red Delicous, Golden Delicous, Snow, Russet, Mutsu, Tolman Sweet, Idared, and Northern Spy. There are also pears like Flemish Beauty.
“We are pleased to offer our own Cooney Farm beef. It is homegrown with no medicated feed and no chemical hormones,” said Lisa Cooney. “It is fully government inspected. 100 per cent pure beef ready for country cooking.”
The Apple Store also has cheese and curds from Maple Dale Cheese Factory in Planefield, Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream, home-made milk shakes, freshly pressed cider, local honey, maple syrup, jams and jellies, frozen pies, frozen vegetables, sparking cider and candles.”
