We are located north east of Bancroft in the Monteagle Valley, an hour and a half hours drive north of Belleville or Peterborough The Old Homestead Farms was settled by the Bartlett family in the 1870s. Andre Moise and Dreatha Thompson say “We have a market garden growing vegetables, herbs and flowers and we also sell sheep, eggs, chicken, pork, beef and firewood.
“We do a lot of our farm, bush and garden work with horses. We also raise and train colts and when ready sell them to other homesteaders.”
Each weekend they can be seen driving a pair of draft horses to the local dump.
We gather and cultivate wild herbs which we sell fresh and also dry. These include lambs’ quarter, nettles, comfrey and dandilions.
