Mike and Gillian Tregunna and their sons Jake and Justin started Tregunna tree Farm six years ago on their faim on the French Settlement Road near Tweed. They now have a large variety of trees. Mike is an experienced landscaper and can advise you on the best species to plant and how to look after your tree. They focus on larger trees of both native and ornamental varieties as well as shrubs. They buy in trees as small whips and grow them on and now have a good range of all sizes of trees.
There us four years worth of planting in the field and have around 1800 trees to chose from. You can chose different sorts of maple from native sugar and red maples to Autumn Fantasy Maple and Red Sunset selected for their brilliant fall colours. In contrast Princeton Gold Maple has bright yellow foliage staying throughout the growing season.
At Tregunna Tree Farm there is a variety of different birch, locus, crabapple, oak willow, mountain ash and tree lilac. There is a Discovery Elm, which is drought resistant and resistant to Dutch elm disease. There are also fruit trees and evergreens such as spruce, cypress and juniper.
Tregunna Tree Farm is open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Look for the new sign in Tweed.
