The Chicken Coop
We are a family-owned business that has been in operation for 28 years. Our store, orginally known as Drain Poultry, is located on the same 500 acres that house our laying hens. Our claim to fame is our farm-fresh eggs, known as "nest run" that can be purchased at any time never more than two days old.
We have grown over the years and have expanded The Chicken Coop store in order to carry an ever growing assortment of items. Local maple syrup, honey, fudge, cookies, and butter tarts are always available. We also carry homemade candy, such as humbugs and horehound made by a family in business for three generations. Homemade jam has been a long-time favourite in our store. We stock almost every kind of jam and jelly you could imagine. Pickled eggs and kobassa have been a long-time favourite among hunters and fishermen. We carry dog and cat food as well as bird seed.
If you are looking for a unique gift, try our beeswax candles, which are not imitations and are made from 100% beeswax. We also carry a large everyday and seasonal assortment of placemats and table runners. A line of "Get Cracking" egg theme items including timers, whisks, mashers, separators, egg cups and more are available. On the clothing side we carry rain coats, "holey sole" sandals 100% cotton t-shirts and cotton/polyester hoodies, and an extensive line of Ezzewear Clothing. If you are in the Tweed area be sure to stop in and visit for a true country shopping experience. We are located on Highway # 37 just 3 km north of Tweed, Ontario and only 40 km north of Belleville or 5.2 km south of Highway # 7.
Opening times: Monday to Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., closed on Sundays.
