Richard and Beth Wismer live at Beckett Farms high up in Stirling-Rawdon. One gets a wonderful view from their Beckett Berries strawberry field west to the Northumberland hills. They used to run a dairy farm and a strawberry patch. Richard graduated from Loyalist College in 2008 as a land surveyor and is working in the area. He still farms raising mixed breed, beef cattle, which he sells as stockers (young cattle). He also grows cash crops and hay. Their farm is known as the Beckett Farm as Fred Beckett lived there until the 1970s.
Harvest Hastings is a community-run project that promotes access to local and sustainable agriculture.
