Heartfit Farm is an historic United Empire Loyalist farm dating from 1802. It was owned and worked by the same family from 1802 to 1987. Cristina and George Milner now run the 80 acre farm producing traditionally raised goat, pork and chicken meat. We also produce brown, white and green eggs from free-run hens and goose eggs too.
"We run a farm holiday program for intellectually disabled individuals from 14 years -50 years old," said Cristina Milner. "It is unique experience for our guests."
Janice Tiessen and Rick Hemmings run FleetBreeze Kennels. Janice Tiessen has been breeding German Shepherds for 35 years. They also tap their maple trees and produce maple syrup and maple butter which they sell from the farm gate along with fresh farm eggs.
Sue Harvey, with her family, is living her childhood dream of living in the country and raising animals on their farm in Gilmour. Sue raises organic, free-range turkeys and chickens. She has sold out for 2011 but will have more next year. The turkeys are a heritage breed called Beltsville White.
Jennifer and Brian Davis breed pedigree Bohr goats on their 15-acre farm, on the north slope of the Oak Hills to the east of Stirling. Bohr goats are easy to handle and produce high-quality meat. They sell breeding stock as well as goat meat. At Easter, they sell goats to the Greek community in Toronto. They sell roasts and sausages locally. We are located north east of Bancroft in the Monteagle Valley, an hour and a half hours drive north of Belleville or Peterborough The Old Homestead Farms was settled by the Bartlett family in the 1870s. Andre Moise and Dreatha Thompson say "We have a market garden growing vegetables,herbs and flowers and we also sell sheep, eggs, chicken, pork, beef and firewood. "We do a lot of our farm, bush and garden work with horses. We also raise and train colts and when ready sell them to other homesteaders." Each weekend Andre and Dreatha can be seen driving a pair of draft horses to the local dump.
Our flock is of heritage breeds and are producers of large brown eggs.“Our girls” are raised as free run, giving them a natural wholesome and stress free environment to enjoy life.
