Kirkland's Heritage Farm caters to the growing public awareness that we are what we eat. Animals on our farm are fed organic grains and graze in fields that are free of chemical sprays. We combine good old fashioned methods with some new modern ones. We know you will enjoy the taste of our fresh produce along with the comforting knowledge that it's healthy and good for you. They rear the Welsh Mountain sheep. This is a rare breed and there are only 800 in Canada. Welsh Mountain Sheep is a small dual purpose breed that provides excellent mild mutton and a completely black, dense, durable fleece.
We make reproduction Primitive Antiques. We also have a couple bee hives. We have grass fed beef, British Black pigs, chickens, ducks and turkeys all for meat. We also have meat rabbits.We are a family farm on 40 acres we enjoy our riding horses as well and a donkey named Theodore he is the keeper of the alpacas. We supply Queen Of The Kitchen Artisan Chocolates with our honey for her chocolate truffles. We also grow a big garden. We never use pesticides or needle our animals. Our feilds have not had fertilizer in at least 12 years. We are not organic but we are produce meat that is free from chemicals.
Arrive at the farm and help brush and tack your horse. Receive a mini lesson on riding your horse. Ride through some real back trails, along the railway bed, and hay fields. Stop for lunch at the Crowe River - Callaghan Rapids.Wine, a selection of fresh fruits & cheese, salad and mount up and continue our ride back to the farm.
Promise Land Farm is a family business owned and operated by Don and Cheryl Dowswell. Located at 640 Hamilton Road, Quinte West, Promise Land Family Fun Farm offers an interactive farm experience for all ages to enjoy.
We operate a 150 acre farm in beautiful Oak Hills, situated just 10 minutes north of Belleville and the 401. We raise Berkshire pigs, Katahdin sheep, Bronze turkeys, meat chickens and Peking ducks in a natural environment. All our livestock are fed on natural grains. No growth hormones or enhancers. Visitors welcome strictly by appointment only due to biosecurity measures.
Heartfit Farm is an historic United Empire Loyalist farm dating from 1802. It was owned and worked by the same family from 1802 to 1987. Cristina and George Milner now run the 80 acre farm producing traditionally raised goat, pork and chicken meat. We also produce brown, white and green eggs from free-run hens and goose eggs too.
"We run a farm holiday program for intellectually disabled individuals from 14 years -50 years old," said Cristina Milner. "It is unique experience for our guests."
Sue Harvey, with her family, is living her childhood dream of living in the country and raising animals on their farm in Gilmour. Sue raises organic, free-range turkeys and chickens. She has sold out for 2011 but will have more next year. The turkeys are a heritage breed called Beltsville White.
