You can also go direct to her farm at 2601 Cooper Road and buy right off the stand at the end of the drive way or visit her at the Belleville Farmers' Market.
High bush blueberries grow in the milder parts of Ontario. Snow help protect them in winter. Berries develop in clusters of five to 10 berries and ripen over a period of four to six weeks. They should not be harvested too early. After the berries turn completely blue, leave them on the bushes for three to seven days to develop their full flavor and sugar content. Birds can devastate a crop and sometime they have to bring in a falconer with hawks to scare away the birds. Blueberries are high in antioxidants when compared to 60 other fresh fruits and vegetables.and may help lower the risk of developing age-related diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
