Tony and Brenda Sine and their son John run an 850 acre beef farm Ponderosa Farm and have a farm shop Ponderosa Farm Beef Outlet. John is the eighth generation of Sines to live on the farm. "The Sine family, United Empire Loyalists, came to Sidney at an early date and located upon lots 23 and 24 in the 6th concession, on what is known as the Oak Hill range, and were the pioneer settlers in this section of the township. They are a numerous family, of much intelligence, owning a large quantity of valuable land and occupying respectable social positions in society." Belden Atlas 1878.

They rear around 400 head of cross breed cattle. They buy in calves and finish them. Some are processed at Hastings County Meat Packers and the rest are sold at the Ontario Stockyards at Cookstown, near Toronto. The animals are finished with grains and forage. Tony and Brenda switched to beef from dairy farming around 15 years ago. The Ponderosa Farm Beef Outlet is open on Fridays 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can call for an appointment at any time.
