The 2012 asparagus season started. on May 8, two days ahead of last year's start. Jack and Betty Ketcheson have three acres of asparagus on their farm in Quinte West. Jack Ketcheson is a soil scientist, who understands the importance of safeguarding the fertility of the soil and the need to protect agricultural soils. Jack Ketcheson designed the soil demonstration at the Hastings County Museum of Agricultural Heritage.
