Green and Growing Fourth Sustainable Living Symposium is now two days long

Local residents will now be able to enjoy an extra day at the Fourth Annual Sustainable Living Symposium. The event organized by 11 regional non-profits has expanded from one day to two. The event is held on the last weekend of March with the Saturday featuring workshops and a trade show at Loyalist College. New this year is a Green Homes Bus Tour on Sunday.

“This event is getting bigger every year,” says Caroline Zawadzki, symposium co-ordinator. “The event books solid every year, and to accommodate the growing interest a second day was added.”

Zawadzki enthuses “We’re so excited that The County Sustainability Group has joined with us to offer their Prince Edward County Green Homes Tour as part of the Annual Symposium. This combines two fantastic local events together on one weekend.”

Maya Navrot, Quinte Conservation education co-ordinator says, “As one of the organizing partners one of the wonderful things about the Symposium is that new organizations are joining every year.” Navrot adds, “It’s great seeing all these local groups working together to organize an event focused on finding local solutions”.

The Symposium's focus is on local solutions, local services, and local businesses. Local experts encourage Quinte citizens to explore earth-friendly and cost-effective solutions from food and agriculture, home renovation and building, to renewable energy, landscaping and healthy and responsible living.

Admission is $50 for the whole weekend, $40 for Saturday only or $15 for Sunday only.

Registration is open, spaces are limited. For program details and to register visit www.quintesustainability.ca or call Quinte Conservation at 613.968.3434 ext 131.
