Sustainability

The County of Hastings County includes Hastings County, the City of Belleville and the City of Quinte West and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, with its forests, farmland, lakes, rivers and small and large communities, is well situated to lead in the field of alternative energy development, conservation of natural resources,  sustainable agriculture and forestry and artisan food production. 

Harvest Hastings is about living lightly on the land. Sustainability has four sections on land stewardship, tree planting, managing woods and wildlife at  Caring for Land; discussion about Climate Change; finfd out about Green Communities, and read about what's happening in Local Agriculture. Community Trees Giveaway 2011 - City of Belleville

You can pick up some free trees to plant in your yard at the Belleville Farmers Market on May 7. The project is a partnership between the City of Belleville and Hastings Stewardship Council.

Community Trees  2011 

Supported by Hastings Stewardship Council and the Municipalities of Tweed, Deseronto, Centre Hastings, Stirling - Rawdon,  Marmora and Lake and the City of Belleville .

 Saturday April 30, 8 a.m. – noon in rural locations throughout South Hastings. 

Saturday May 7, 8 a.m.– noon at City of Belleville Farmers Market 

Trees are free in limited quantities to residents of these Municipalities
