Sustainability

The County of Hastings County includes Hastings County, the City of Belleville and the City of Quinte West and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, with its forests, farmland, lakes, rivers and small and large communities, is well situated to lead in the field of alternative energy development, conservation of natural resources,  sustainable agriculture and forestry and artisan food production. 

Harvest Hastings is about living lightly on the land. Sustainability has four sections on land stewardship, tree planting, managing woods and wildlife at  Caring for Land; discussion about Climate Change; finfd out about Green Communities, and read about what's happening in Local Agriculture. Catch the buzz: beekeeping, honey and hive poducts marketplace

Quinte Beekeepers Association invites everyone to "Catch the buzz", a beekeeping, honey and hive products marketplace, Monday, April 8, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Parkdale Community Centre, 119 Birch Street, Belleville. Head south of Belle Blvd on Sidney St., turn left on Maple St., then first right on Birch St.)

Whether you are an experienced beekeeper, a wanna beekeeper or you just like to shop, there is something for everyone. The marketplace includes beekeeping suppliers from this area. Find out what you need to become a beekeeper (yes, including the bees!).

Vendors will be showing wares specializing in products from the hive - honey, beeswax candles, skin creams, soaps, pollen, and more.

Learn about beekeeping, bees, and the environment at the Quinte Beekeepers Information Booth.  What can you do to encourage pollinators in your yard or on your property?  

Talk to an experienced  beekeeper to find out what it takes to become one. Taste different local honeys from the Quinte area at the Honey Tasting Table.  Think all honey tastes the same?  You'll be surprised at the varied flavours of our local honey! Beekeepers; this is the perfect opportunity to shop for your supplies for the upcoming season.

Enjoy a free honey baked treat with your tea or coffee. Admission is free! All are welcome.
