Jim Uen

Quality, local, environmentally friendly, and low impact horse logging.

Quality, local, environmentally friendly, and low impact horse logging. Jim Uens is a busy horse logger who works out of Thomasburg. He has been using his large, beautiful, powerful Percherons to help with his logging operation since the mid 1980’s. He was a trained certified forest technician when, in the 80s, he decided to start his horse logging operation full time. He does selective logging in all types of bush, both hardwood and softwood. Watch a video of Jim Uens and his son Kenny demonstrating horse logging at the Trenton Woodlot conference. Jim does custom logging for woodlot owners, but because his services are in high demand, be prepared to wait! This is good example of a small business using a local renewable resource in a sustainable way.
