The Municipality of Tweed would like to encourage people from throughout the region to come join in the festivities of one of Hastings County’s oldest community traditions, The Tweed Agricultural Fair, July 5-8, 2012. This year’s theme is Pioneer Days to Modern Ways, which incorporates what the Fair is all about, keeping the attractions and events that have been around for decades while adding exciting new additions to the schedule.
This year the Fairboard has added a Demo-Cross on Friday night, two Jungle Cat World shows on Saturday afternoon, and an all new midway! While keeping all of the Fair favorites of the past; Live Music, Demo-Derby, Pet Show, Kids Zone, Western Horse Games, 4H cattle shows, a Karaoke tent, Pony, Horse, Truck, and Tractor pulls, Lawnmower races, Tweed Ambassador program, Kids Bike races, Baking and Canning Contests, Crafts, Exhibits, Vendors, and more!
“We are all excited about the new events this year. The Demo-Cross, Lawnmower Races, and Live Bands are sure to be a thrill, but we are especially excited about the visit from Jungle Cat World for the kids! We have a chance to see these animals right here in the Tweed Arena, let’s pack the place”, exclaimed Fairboard President Sylvie Dunham.  “Being part of the Fairboard brings me great pride in my community and surrounding area,” continued Dunham.  “We are very grateful for the countless hours that our volunteers put into planning the wide variety of activities, shows, and events for the 131st annual Tweed Fair.”
The Tweed Agricultural Fairboard has seven executives and over fifty additional volunteers. The group works year-round to plan the Fair.  It has been a popular community festival, a great area promoter, and economic driver for generations.  The Municipality would like to thank them for their continued efforts.
