Peter Mewett is one of the most experienced local bee keepers. He lives near Stirling with his wife Judy and family. He runs 100 bee colonies and produces both liquid and creamed honey. He also imports queen bees for sale from Australia, California and Chile for sale across Canada.
Much of his honey is produced by bees located on certified organic farms. He practices an organic approach to beekeeping, where chemicals are not used in the hive with the exception of formic acid, a naturally occuring soft chemical used to control bee mites. Peter is on the executive of the Quinte Beekeepers Association and on the board of directors for the Ontario Beekeepers Association. You can buy honey directly from Peter Mewett. He is a member of the Ontario Bee Keepers Association.
