During the session, you will learn about:• The need for, and growing popularity of, more intimate tourist experiences in Hastings County.• What is experiential tourism, what is an Airbnb Experience, and what you need to know in order to get started.• Restrictions and safety standards necessary - what types of Experiences can be hosted and what types of permissions or licensing are necessary for their particular Experience.• 'Responsible Hosting' of Airbnb Experiences including safety, community awareness, waste, conduct.• The steps for Experience Submission and the Approval process.• And explain how to maximize potential income, set pricing and time frames and how to operate & optimize their Airbnb Experience.This workshop will provide practical and effective techniques immediately applicable in a variety of contexts to demystify the process and teach them the ease, tricks and simple processes to share their knowledge and skills, and create a second income.
Facilitators:Jessica Long, Hospitality and Tourism ConsultantJessica Long brings to the table over 20 years of active experience working in Hospitality and Tourism, including managing a Boutique Hotel in the tropics and as property manager and host of numerous short-term rental properties ranging from high-end villas to small B&B's in Costa Rica and Italy. She has coached numerous individuals and small businesses in how to set-up and make the most of their Airbnb STA Properties and Experiences. She has taught two previous workshops in the Short-Term Accommodations Workshop Series for Hastings County. Along with the practical set-up, much of her coaching focuses on creating the best possible Guest experience to encourage excellent reviews, returning guests and positive community image and growth.
Kasey Rogerson, Tourism Development Coordinator, Hastings CountyKasey Rogerson has been assisting operators across Hastings County with growing their businesses for several years. Her background is in sustainable tourism and public relations, and is trained in experiential tourism development. Growing up in a rural community, she has always had a passion for supporting rural communities, non-profits and small businesses. Kasey has facilitated many workshops across Hastings, from social media and TripAdvisor to visitor services and customer relations. In her role with Hastings, Kasey offers businesses, organizations and communities assistance with developing products and experiences, enhancing underperforming assets in communities, and facilitating initiatives outlined in the Tourism Development Plan.
