Marmora — A Toronto-based company hoping to construct a $660-million pumped storage hydro electricity facility at the former Marmora mine site must first secure a contract with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) to make the dream reality.
Northland Power Inc.’s proposal to build the province’s largest pumped storage facility using the 700-foot deep open-pit Marmora mine — a site that has sat dormant since 1976 — was met with enthusiasm by the large crowd packed into Marmora’s town hall Friday afternoon.
