I am a retired structural engineer with a passion for making things with my hands. We joined the Madoc community living in our century farm house where we enjoy foraging for morels and ramps on our property while tending our vegetable garden.
Since retiring I have dedicated myself to honing my leather working skills. I try to learn and improve my work with every project striving for the elusive perfection.
Leather is such a wonderful medium, with almost limitless possibilities of projects to make.
My products are all handmade including hand stitched using saddle stitching techniques. Hand stitching makes a more durable and repairable product compared to machine stitching. With care my leather products should last year’s and only get better looking as they develop patina.
My work includes wallets, belts, tote bags, purses, messenger bag/brief cases, rifle slings, custom knife sheaths and more
Ready-made made work can be found on my website. www.jeffdsmakes.com
In addition to ready-made I do made to order and custom work. Made to order is where you can have one of my existing designs made in your choice of leathers and threads. Custom work is skies the limit let’s design something unique for your personal style.
I work at home not in a retail setting so please make an appointment if you wish to come see my products in person.
