Congratulations to Melanie and her team at Dahlia May Flower Farm for their amazing initiative to bring flowers and plants to long-term care residents in our region. This holiday season, they delivered 4191 plants and cards (designed by children) to residents in 46 facilities!!! Melanie explained in one of her posts: “THIS is the power of community, and proof that this small flower farm, in a rural community in South Eastern Ontario has the BEST community surrounding it. We don’t just grow and sell flowers here, we make special things happen, and in doing so we attract folks who are here for MORE than just the flowers.”
We are looking for new board members! Harvest Hastings is about farming and forestry, and the creative people who grow food, work with wood and make unique products. If you have time and energy that you would like to devote to promoting sustainability, land stewardship, food security, and community-building, please join us at the AGM, become a member, and run for office!

Please let us know about upcoming events related to agriculture and forestry in your area
