Harvest Hastings member CIPM Farm on Storms Road, north of Stirling received an exciting surprise last week – a request to supply Red Fife flour to the Governor General’s residence Rideau Hall in Ottawa for an upcoming State Banquet for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. CIPM also provided Red Fife wheat flour to the 2010 Winter Olympic in Vancouver. Red Fife wheat is a heritage variety that has been grown since 2004 on the CIPM Farm where it is stone-milled into whole grain flour. The flour has achieved considerable popularity with chefs and bakers as well as consumers who are becoming aware of the health benefits of whole grains.
