The numbers on heart health in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties are in, and one local official calls the results “terrifying.”
Statistics released Monday by the Heart and Stroke Foundation show worrying trends in Canadians’ health and the two local counties fare poorly in several key categories.
“You’re definitely in the bottom third of performers across Ontario,” Dr. Chris Simpson, chief of cardiology at Queen’s University and a spokesman for Heart and Stroke, told The Intelligencer in a phone interview.
